Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician diploma program prepares individuals for a variety of job opportunities in the health occupations areas and is generated to meet the need for cross training of employees in health care facilities.

Graduates may find employment in long – term care facilities, hospitals, laboratories, and clinics where basics bedside nursing skills are required, as well as the skills of phlebotomy, performing electrocardiograms (EKG), stress testing, and Holter monitoring procedures.

All standard skills are included into this competency based curriculum. The program consist s of classroom/lab instruction and supervised / preceptor clinical activities. Upon successful completion of this competency – based program, students may be eligible to take state and/or National Certification exams in phlebotomy, Nursing Assistance, Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, and/or Patient Care Technician. (Must have a CNA Certificate before entering the PCT Course.

Medical Assistant Program

The Medical Assistant Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in a variety of health care settings. In this program, students study the structure and function of the major body systems along with computer skills, medical terminology, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, administrative processes including, bookkeeping and basic accounting principles, and medical insurance forms and claims processing.

In recent years, the medical assisting profession has become indispensable to the health care field. Physicians have become more reliant on medical assistants for their front and back office skills, and their services are being sought by medical offices, and ambulatory care providers, clinics, hospitals, urgent care centers, nursing homes, medical supply businesses, home health agencies, insurance providers, and pharmaceutical companies. This diploma program prepares graduates to fill entry-level positions such as clinical or administrative assistant, medical receptionist, and medical insurance biller.
